The European Union will give new regulations for smart home categories.

In recent years, the European Union has been continuously launched new measures in the protection of network security and data. Last week, the European Union announced a draft that put forward a series of strict requirements for mobile phone tablet electronic products. After just a week, the European Union shot again. This time the target is the “Internet of Things” products led by smart homes.

According to the Financial Times, the European Union will announce a draft cyber security regulations next week to strictly require the network security of the “Internet of Things” products. Once passed, the new regulations will take effect in 2024.

The draft says that hardware and software products are becoming more and more vulnerable to network attacks, and the losses caused by global network attacks in 2021 have reached 550 million euros. The “Internet of Things” product has a low level of network security, and the data shows that only half of the relevant companies have adopted full protection measures on cyber attacks.

The draft stipulates that the “Internet of Things” product manufacturers, including smart homes, must obtain a compulsory certificate to prove that they meet the basic requirements of network security and can minimize the attack risk. Manufacturers who do not comply with regulations will be fined up to 15 million euros or 2.5% of the global turnover of the previous year.

In recent years, China’s smart home manufacturing has developed rapidly. In the World Smart Home Enterprise TOP50 list, Chinese companies are on the list and are the largest number of countries on the list. Xiaomi, Huawei, Hisense and other companies also have a good performance in the European smart home market.

This time, the European Union’s “Internet of Things” products made a “problem” to our domestic brands. Compared with European products, “Made in China” has good competitiveness in terms of cost -effectiveness and product functions, but it is still slightly inferior to adapting to market security standards. How to catch up in terms of product network security guarantee is an important issue facing all Chinese smart home brands. After all, it is impossible to meet market standards. The product is qualified to enter the venue, and the cost -effective and functional advantages cannot be mentioned.
