Commonly used textile waterproof performance testing standards.


The waterproofness of textiles means that water droplets (or droplets) cannot penetrate into the fabric. Its waterproof performance testing is mainly divided into water permeability (hydrostatic pressure) testing, surface water repellency testing and rain test. Commonly used testing methods at home and abroad are GB/T, ISO, AATCC and JIS.
 Leaching rain
The rain method is to test the water repellency of the fabric exposed to the air when imitating heavy rain. This method is suitable for any fabric that has or has not been water-repellent finishing. In the test, the test sample is wrapped with a weighing absorbent paper, sprayed with water for a specified time under different water pressures, and then the weight of the absorbent paper is weighed again to determine the amount of water leaked by the sample during the test.

Spray water repellency test, that is, by continuously spraying or dripping water onto the sample, observing the characteristics of water stains on the surface of the sample after a certain period of time, and comparing it with samples of various wettability levels to evaluate the waterproofness of the fabric. This method is also to simulate the degree of waterproofing of clothes by varying degrees of rain in a real scene. The final test results are not only related to the results of different water repellent treatments, but also to the structure of yarns, fibers, and fabrics.

 The hydrostatic pressure resistance index is one of the important indexes of waterproof and moisture-permeable fabrics. Hydrostatic pressure refers to the resistance encountered when water passes through the fabric. Under standard atmospheric pressure, the fabric is subjected to continuously rising water pressure until the back of the fabric seeps out. At this time, the measured water pressure is the static Water pressure. The greater the hydrostatic pressure that the fabric can withstand, the better the water resistance or leakage resistance. For different fabric materials, there will be different test methods.
