According to a research report, Amazon accounted for 56% of the e -commerce market in Germany in 2021, with sales of about 85 billion euros. Five years ago, this ratio was 50%. At present, Amazon is far ahead of the German local e -commerce platform OTTO and Zalando. Amazon’s global sales have increased by 28%per year since 2010. About two -thirds of sales are from the US local market. Germany is the second largest market with a share of about 8%, leading in the UK (7%) and Japan (5%).
Amazon’s largest customer group is consumers aged 30 to 39. In addition, about one -fifth of consumer groups are from 20 to 29 years old. The most important factor of German consumers choosing to shop on the Amazon platform is product prices, followed by the advantages of Amazon Prime, delivery costs, speed, and websites.
